Have you ever heard the saying, "a watched pot never boils"? Well if you're like most people, it's because they've suffered from full-on writer's block. We all get it sometimes and for some reason our brains just stop producing words or an idea. That is why this post will give you a few tips on how to solve the problem once and for all and prevent it from happening in the future. You may even find it helpful to write down a few of the tips so you can refer back to them when you need help. First things first, let's be honest, staring at a blank page or computer screen for hours on end will only make the situation worse. It's a good idea to take a break from writing and do something else to clear your mind before sitting down again. If you're writing at home then try going for a walk outside, grab a cup of coffee from your favorite coffee shop or go see a movie with friends. Just take some time away from what you were working on and by the time you get back, your mind will be refreshed and ready to tackle those words. If you're writing on the go and don't have a lot of time to do so then try and be creative and use it as a time management issue. If you can think of ways to work your way around the problem then you'll all but solve it. For example, it's a good idea to grab a short nap or catch up on some sleep if that helps clear your mind. When I'm working on my stories, it's common for me to take half an hour or so to relax my brain and hopefully get back into the zone. Another rule is to keep your characters in their heads as often as possible. This will give you a better understanding of them and give you insights into what they are thinking. It will also bring them to life more so people can relate to them. When doing this, try not to write out long passages of description or narrative. Instead, be as concise as possible to prevent your readers from becoming bored or disengaged. For example, instead of writing that the streets were empty except for a few empty cars here and there, write that the streets were completely empty except for a few empty cars here and there. This is known as using small details instead of large descriptions. It makes your writing more powerful because it's clear what's going on without resorting to long-winded descriptions or adjectives. Another useful tip is to take a break from it all. This can be hard for some people, but if you're going at it non-stop you're going to burn yourself out. It's good to step away from time to time and let the creativity flow naturally again. In addition, if something is truly bothering you or keeping your inspiration at bay, don't be afraid to take another break from writing and focus on things outside of your story. The writer's world can be a stressful place but taking a step back every once in a while will solve a lot of problems and allow you to get back into it more easily. Lastly, remember that everyone feels the way you do sometimes. cfa1e77820
